Stone Carving Frequently Asked Questions

Q : What kind of material do you use for the stone carving ??
A : The material that we use is natural sedimentary stone called "Sandstone". There are various types and colours of sandstone in Indonesia, and we focus on white sandstone that originates in Central Java, with consideration being given to the fact that this sandstone is harder that other types of sandstone. The material is available in any size as is not the case with other types where it is difficult to find larger sizes, however we will gladly use other types of sandstone by request

Q : How porous is the sandstone ??
A : Sandstone is semi hard stone that is difficult to break under normal circumstances, obviously unless it is dropped

Q : Can we put the sandstone stone carving outside as outdoor decoration ??
A : Of course the sandstone stone carving / statue can be used outdoors as it is well suited for garden decoration. For outdoor application we suggest to cover the surfaces of the sandstone stone carving / statue with a transparent waterproofing. This waterproofing will penetrate into dry porous surfaces of the stone carving. It is specially designed to enhance the surfaces natural resistant against water, as well as protect it from dampness, fungus and algae.
After the application the waterproofing will lay under the surface to allow it to breathe while protecting it from water penetration and damage. When dried the waterproofing will be transparent so that the colour and texture of the applied surfaces will not change.

Q : How can we get this waterproofing ??
A : The waterproofing can be found in construction and hardware stores. We understand this will be a problem for some customers, so we can solve this problem by providing waterproofing service by request.

Q : Are you able to make a special item for a private residence ??
A : We have extensive experience in onsite construction projects such as Hotels, Villas, and Homes. The stone carving will be designed to the customers specifications.

Q : Do you arrange shipping for overseas customers ??
A : Certainly we can arrange shipping, the service will include all local handling and freight costs. Once we have received confirmation about nearest shipping port, our reliable shipping agent will forward the shipping rate to the customer.

There are 2 things have to take into account:

1. Ocean freight :
   The cost is charged by the cubic meter (1 cubic meter / 1 CBM), and normally the shipping agent will charge a minimum 1 CBM or part there of and in special cases could be minimum of 2 CBM, which means that even if the volume of the customer’s goods is less than 1 CBM, the customer will still be charged for 1 CBM. The delivery time from Surabaya port to customer's destination port will take approx 5 – 6 weeks for LCL (Less than a container load) and approx. 4 – 5 weeks for FCL (Full Container Load).
   TIP :
   • a: Decide on which carvings you would like to purchase and then complete our shipping form and we will email you the price and the volume.
   • b: Find some friends that would also like to purchase stone carvings to share the cost of shipping. More volume will help to reduce the overall final cost price of each product.
2. Air Freight:
   Air freight is charged by weight and can therefore be very expensive if over 45 kgs, the time frame for delivery from Denpasar airport to customer's nearest airport will be approx. 3-5 days.
   TIP :
   • a: Don't consider using air freight for heavy items it will cost much more than the good’s value.
   • b: If you do prefer air freight with door to door delivery service such as: DHL, UPS, FEDEX etc, use only for goods under 45 kgs.
